These three routes were created for the annual Pure Stodge Rally in Elkader, Iowa.
Turkey River Route
Approximate Mileage: 100 Miles
Estimated Riding Time: 3.75 Hours
Road Surface: Gravel and Paved
The Turkey River Route follows the Turkey river as closely as possible between Elgin and Elkport. It also drops down to follow part of the Volga River and passses through The Volga River State Rec. Area.
McGregor Guttenberg Wadenda Route
Approximate Mileage: 160 Miles
Estimated Riding Time: 3 Hours
Riding Surface: Paved
This route covers some of the best paved roads in this part of Iowa and visits several historic towns. In addition to passing through McGregor and Guttenberg, it passes the entrance of Pike’s Peak State Park. Stop in for a great view of the Mississippi River Valley or hike to Bridal Veil Falls. Finally, be sure to stop in Strawberry Point to get your picture taken with the World’s Largest Strawberry.
Volga River Route
Approximate Mileage: 100 Miles
Estimated Riding Time: 3.25 Hours
Road Surface: Gravel and Paved
After a short ride to the Historic Motor Mill, this route follows the Volga River to Osterdock and then back West all the way to Wadena. After Wadena, the route is mostly paved through Fayette and back to Elkader.
NOTE: Driftless Road USA’s Dual Sport Routes include some gravel roads. Since these roads are not typically maintained as well as paved roads, it is possible for surface conditions to be highly changeable from day to day. Please exercise extra caution while riding these routes.
